Early British edition. Ward Lock & Tyler first published the two parts of CAPTAIN HATTERAS in 1876 -- the second English edition (and a different translation from Routledge's first). By 1878 Ward Lock & Tyler was Ward Lock & Co., when this combined volume was issued. Some copies were issued with colored illustrations (this one was not), and some were issued with all page edges gilt (this one was). This is a fine, bright copy (1895 school prize label on the front pastedown) of an attractively bound book. See Taves & Michaluk V004.
