$ 475.00 |
Verne, Jules. THE SURVIVORS OF THE CHANCELLOR. Diary of J. R. Kazallon, Passenger. Translated from the French by Ellen Frewer. London: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, & Rivington, 1880. Original green cloth pictorially decorated in black and lettered in gilt.
First British Edition, later impression. The volume also includes the early Verne tale "Martin Paz," though it is not mentioned on the binding nor on the title page. The first impression had been published in 1875 -- the first illustrated edition in English; this is a later impression of that first edition.
This is a bright copy, near-fine except that the front endpaper has been replaced (the original rear endpaper is present, but is cracked); inside there is some foxing on leaves toward each end. See Taves & Michaluk V014 and Myers 47.
