Do you have books you wish to sell?
Within our area of specialization (literary first editions of the Nineteenth and early Twentieth Centuries), we are always eager to purchase entire libraries, significant author collections, and fine individual volumes.

Sumner & Stillman also is pleased to sell such books on a consignment basis -- a service not provided by many antiquarian book dealers. On a volume sold by us for $6,000.00, for example, our sales commission is only $900.00; on a volume sold for $2,000.00, only $400.00. Full details of our consignment arrangement are available.

Do you wish to buy books at auction?
We often attend auctions that include rare books. If you are thinking of buying books that are coming up at auction, let us know; if it is an auction we plan to attend, we can be of assistance -- inspecting and evaluating the book(s) and executing your bid(s).

Do you need to have books appraised?
Whether for insurance or estate or gift purposes, we conduct appraisals of books that fall within our area of expertise.
