First American Edition, probably published a few weeks after the 1864-dated London one. This collection of verse contains one of Longfellow's best-known poems "Paul Revere's Ride" (better known today as "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere"). Also included is "The Children's Hour":~Between the dark and the daylight,~When the night is beginning to lower,~Comes a pause in the day's occupations,~That is known as the Children's Hour...~This copy is in light brown morocco-grain cloth -- one of 24 variations of cloth texture and color used for this first edition! Included is the later-state ad catalogue (though dated Nov 1863 like the earlier), with this book listed with its price. Condition is very good-plus (spine slightly faded and gilt a bit dull, but scarcely any wear). Blanck 12136. Item #11691
