THE AMERICAN VOLUNTEER MOTOR-AMBULANCE CORPS IN FRANCE. Henry James.

THE AMERICAN VOLUNTEER MOTOR-AMBULANCE CORPS IN FRANCE.

A Letter to the Editor of an American Journal. London: Macmillan and Co., 1914. Original light blue-grey self-wrappers.

First (and only) Edition, which consisted of merely 2000 copies -- of this piece James wrote as Chairman of this volunteer force. Though the sub-title might imply that this piece had appeared first in an American paper, actually this pamphlet in wrappers appeared first -- on 15 December 1914; it did not appear in the New York World (heavily edited) until 4 January 1915. Later, in 1919, this piece (unedited) was collected in the Henry James volume WITHIN THE RIM.~This is a very good copy (some sunning of the blue-grey wrappers, minor edge-wear). Edel & Laurence C2.
