AN EDITOR'S TALES. Anthony Trollope.

London: Strahan & Co., 1870. Original terra-cotta cloth.

First Edition of this collection of six Trollope short stories, all of which had appeared in Saint Paul's Magazine between October 1869 and May 1870. The stories are loosely connected: a magazine editor (Trollope was the editor of Saint Paul's) is approached by various people about stories to be published, and in each case he uncovers a tale behind the tale.~This copy is in the secondary binding of terra-cotta cloth without the title and author's name on the front cover. Condition is bright and near-fine: there is very minor rubbing and a couple of small spots on the binding, and the original endpapers are cracking, but it is a bright, attractive copy. Sadleir (Trollope) 34. Provenance: there is a signature dated Sept 1870 (four months after publication) at Blendon Hall (in Bexley -- the Hall was razed in 1934). Item #13077
