Written by "Jo" and "Meg" and acted by The "Little Women". Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1893. 2 pp preliminary undated ads + 2 pp terminal undated ads. Original mustard cloth decorated in black and gilt.
First Edition of this collection of six plays, written and performed by the Alcott sisters when they were young, and here collected for publication by Anna Alcott Pratt ("Meg"), five years after the death of Louisa May ("Jo"). They are generally melodramatic thrillers -- such as "Norna; or, The Witch's Curse" and "The Unloved Wife; or, Woman's Faith" -- like the Gothic Novels that were popular in England during the sisters' early years. Included are two plates, one showing grown-up "Jo" and "Meg," and the other showing "The Theatre of 1848," i.e. the family home in Concord.
Copies were bound in peacock blue, in brown, or in this mustard cloth (no priority). This is a fine copy -- rather desirable condition for this light-colored cloth. Blanck 224. Item #13263
