London: William Heinemann, 1921. Original grey boards with Japan vellum spine with printed label.
First English Edition, being one of 250 numbered copies signed by Conrad -- this being copy #171. This was actually printed in America: Doubleday Page produced 500 copies, sending half of them to Heinemann for this English edition. This little-known Conrad title consists of the prefaces that he wrote, generally for the Dent editions of 1917 and for the "SunDial" edition of his works. Of his limited-signed editions, this is one with the fewest number of copies.
This is a just-about-fine copy, with scarcely any wear and with very little of the usual cover soil. Although the American copies are frequently seen in dust jacket, we have never seen a Heinemann dust jacket, and do not believe that one existed. Cagle A52b. Item #13482
