being Memoirs of the Adventures of David Balfour in the Year 1751: Written by Himself. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1886. + 4 pp ads, undated. Original red cloth pictorially decorated in black, white and olive.
First American Edition, published on the very same day as Cassell's edition in London. Like that edition, this book is unillustrated except for the frontispiece foldout map.~This copy is in pictorial red cloth; others (at a lower price) were issued simultaneously in yellow wrappers. Condition is very good (minor cover soil, just a touch of wear at the spine ends, a few leaves rather soiled). This American edition (either binding) is considerably scarcer than the English one. Beinecke 383; Princeton 31A, copy . Item #13538
