First Edition of this collection of nine tales from Japan, written by Hearn when he was "Lecturer on English Literature in The Imperial University, Tokyo, Japan" (per the title page). This is one of the most handsome Hearn bindings, with a water lily design on both covers plus the spine.
This is a bright copy, fine except for slight cracking of the endpapers (also, some browning of the rear endpaper where a newspaper clipping must once have resided). Blanck 7935. Item #13799
