London: William Heinemann, 1929. Original full limp vellum.
First Edition so combined and titled, limited to 1030 copies numbered and signed by Galsworthy (this being copy #185); there would also be a trade edition (cloth, with dust jacket) that same year. This is Galsworthy's second trilogy of the Forsyte family, 1088 pages consisting of THE WHITE MONKEY (first published in 1924), THE SILVER SPOON (1926) and SWAN SONG (1928). In this copy, Galsworthy's added quotation following his signature is "Of the wind..."; also, loosely inserted is a brief autograph letter signed by Galsworthy, mailed from Mont-Dore France on 14 July 1929. Condition would be fine except that there is substantial natural darkening of the limp vellum. Housed in a moroccobacked slipcase. Provenance: bookplate of the noteworthy collector Joseph Fisher Loewi. Item #13875
