Illustrated. Boston: Little, Brown, and Company, n.d. . Original yellow cloth pictorially decorated in black and green, with pictorial dust jacket.
First Separate Edition. This is the first of eleven Alcott stories for girls that Little Brown published (with illustrations) during the years 1899-1904, more than a decade after her death. This tale originally appeared in LULU'S LIBRARY (1886); this is its first appearance by itself.
This is a bright, near-fine copy (slight wear at the top of the spine) -- unusually clean for such light-colored cloth. Included is the scarce dust jacket which reproduces the front cover illustration of a girl and boy; it is very good-plus with some edge-wear, notably the top of the spine affecting "OTT" of the author's name. Blanck 225. Item #14142
