First Editions of all three titles (following only some American copyright copies). At the request of the Ministry of Information, Kipling wrote numerous articles (initially to appear in the Daily Telegraph) dealing with the war then just getting underway. The pieces in the first volume actually appeared in the Telegraph in December 1914, whereas the articles in the latter two volumes appeared between September and December 1915. The latter two volumes also include verse that Kipling wrote for the occasion.
