NOTES ON LIFE & LETTERS.
London & Toronto: J.M. Dent & Sons, 1921. Original blue cloth stamped in black.
First Trade Edition, third and usual state (with pp xi-xii a cancel leaf), secondary (blue) binding. Supino notes that according to Dent records, 890 copies of the third state were bound as a colonial edition -- yet neither Cagle nor Supino ever saw a self-described colonial copy. Thus these blue copies MAY constitute the colonial edition; it is interesting to note that this copy originally came to us from Sweden.
This is a very good copy, with the spine faded to tan; there are endpapers applied over the original ones, but the front one bears the date 1921 and the price 2/6 -- so this may have been the original state. We do not know if these blue copies were equipped with dust jackets. Supino A23.4.0 (binding B) -- this copy); Cagle A51a(2), binding b. Provenance: discreet bookplate of the Conrad bibliographer David J. Supino. Item #15416
Price: $165.00
