LAST ESSAYS.
London & Toronto: J.M. Dent & Sons, 1926. Original green cloth, with dust jacket.
First Edition of this posthumous collection of nineteen essays, most of which had previously appeared in limited pamphlet form. Not mentioned on the title page (but noted on the dust jacket) is the fact that for this book Richard Curle contributed an eleven-page Introduction: he leads off by saying "Most of the contents of this volume were written subsequent to the publication of NOTES ON LIFE & LETTERS in 1921, and these two books together may be said to contain practically all Conrad's miscellaneous writings."
This is a near-fine copy (spine "gilt" dull as usual), in a very good jacket (spine darkened as always, moderate soil, cello-tape on the verso of the spine ends). We find this to be a difficult Conrad title to find with a nice jacket. Supino A27.1.0 (this copy); Keating 201. Provenance: discreet bookplate of the Conrad bibliographer David J. Supino; loosely inserted is a leaf of his stationery with his collation notes in pencil. Item #15420
