First Edition of this odd Conrad piece. This is the very brief gallery catalogue for an exhibition of 53 paintings by the Irish artist Alice Sarah Kinkead (1871-1926 -- "Kinkie" to J. C.). The Conrads had met her that year in Corsica, and in fact one of the paintings is a portrait of Jessie Conrad; Kinkead would later paint the last portrait of Joseph Conrad in 1924. Conrad, rather out of character, agreed to write this foreword for her exhibition catalogue. This copy is as new. Supino B3.6.0; Keating 250. Housed in a morocco-backed slipcase with inner chemise.
